2009 Photo competition

Beachwatch and Adopt-a-Beach Beach litter projects

For more than five years now members and supporters of the Group have been carrying out beach cleans and litter surveys on two beaches near Heysham, Lancashire. The surveys have been conducted on a quarterly basis, in spring, summer, autumn and winter. This gives us some indication of seasonal variations in quantity and types of litter to be found on the beach.

Sorry, we have not been able to make up numbers for this trip, which we've had to cancel. If you are interested in diving some of the wrecks in the Sound of Mull this summer, and contributing to their understanding, the NAS will be running the Sound of Mull Archaeological Project (SOMAP) field school in July, see below for further information:

Wed. 8th Monthly Meeting at Capernwray Dive Centre. Speaker: Keith Muscott The voyage of the Beagle. Commence 19.30hrs. Adm. £1.00.

Sat. 18th Dive at Roa Island (possibly survey dive) (Weather dependent: please check with Lewis Bambury on Fri. 17th). Provisionally meet at 13:20hrs, LW 14:54hrs

AUGUST

Wed. 12th Monthly Meeting at Capernwray Dive Centre. Speaker: Mandy Knott Mussels & Honeycomb worms in Morecambe Bay. Commence 19.30hrs. Adm. £1.00.

Sat. 15th. Fund raising event, Cross Bay Walk, Arnside to Kents Bank. Walk starts at 12.15hrs. prompt. Tickets £5.00, under 15's free Tickets available in advance and further information from Rita Crosby. All proceeds will go directly to the Marine Conservation Society.

Fri 28-31st. Dive w/end. Stranraer Area. For further information contact Jo Kaye.
